The Best of the Best

The Best of the Best

EndGrain’s beginning was simple: create a cutting board that exceeds industry standards. Our goal was to create a cutting board that not only functions as a multipurpose surface for food preparation but would also aesthetically enhance the space in which it’s used. To meet this goal, we paid attention to not only the design, but also the material from which the boards would be constructed. EndGrain boards needed to be durable and beautiful, with the ability to last a lifetime.

After careful consideration and research, we chose to make EndGrain Cutting Boards from American hardwoods – black walnut and maple. These wood choices would create beautiful contrasting patterns, and are strong enough to endure wear and tear, whatever we can throw at them. Making the boards from end grain was a simple choice – end grain wood makes the best boards for cutting, dicing, and design. The way the grain is aligned on the board makes a superior cutting surface – smooth but durable where the individual grains of wood separate as you cut and slice on the surface instead of being sliced through (which happens in edge grain or face grain finished cutting boards).

Once the material was established, we focused on the design. After some serious R&D we found that cutting boards currently available on the market had juice channels that overflowed, adding to any mess instead of eliminating it. There was also no way to easily collect those delicious juices for an additional purpose, like gravy or barbeque sauce. Keeping that in mind, we crafted our EndGrain Cutting Boards to have the deepest, widest juice channels on the market, and placed a spillway in one corner so the juice can be siphoned into another container. In addition, those juice channels have been sloped so that the juice doesn’t just sit in the channels but is directed to flow towards the spillway. We also engineered our cutting boards so they could be flipped; the reverse side was designed without juice channels so it could be used as an additional cutting service or a beautiful serving platter.

We won’t say we re-invented the wheel, but we like to think we built it better. EndGrain boards are engineered to be durable, multifunctional, and exquisitely crafted. With proper care and maintenance, they can last a lifetime, providing a focal point for many happy family memories.

We are so excited to share this creation with you. So much hard work goes into each handcrafted board, and we’re proud of what we’ve developed. Our experience with Pit Barrel Cooker gave us the opportunity to understand just what is required of a cutting surface by a serious cook and we know we’ve succeeded in bringing the ultimate cutting experience to our customers.
